Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire SLC’s Luton ‘Coffee and Chat’ event with Govia Thameslink Railway

This spring, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Sight Loss Council invites blind and partially sighted (BPS) people to the second launch of their ‘Coffee and Chat’ events with Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR). This event will be held at Luton Airport Parkway railway station (28 May).

Join us to learn about accessible rail travel and discover information on available support. This includes the launch of our new, free resources designed to help you navigate your train journeys more easily.
We are hosting two identical ‘Coffee and Chat’ events that include:
- a taster of our new audio map which gives you an overview of the station and its layout
- an excerpt of our new onboard descriptions which explain the layout of various train models
- tips from blind and partially sighted people on how to make the most of these free guides
- a chance to feedback and tell us what you think about our resources
- the opportunity to feedback on ways to improve your journeys
- the chance to ask questions and get advice from frequent travellers.
Phil Rutter, Bedfordshire SLC volunteer, said:
“We want to empower more local BPS people to travel on the network and to utilise the assistance available to them. Our aim is to connect people to the wider transport network, creating more opportunities to travel more widely, with a focus on improving accessibility.”
