Tyne and Wear Sight Loss Council (SLC) Volunteer
Role: Employment Event organiser (Hybrid event)
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for blind or partially sighted people living in Tyne & Wear to plan and organise an event which will help improve the employment prospects for blind and partially sighted people in the region.
You will already have good organisational skills but may want to develop your project management knowledge and your professional network.
Where is the role based?
You will be home-based, with the opportunity to attend external meetings.
What is the purpose of the event?
To highlight the career possibilities for blind & partially sighted people.
To demonstrate the support available to employers and job seekers.
When is the event?
The event will be in mid-September 2022 at a local venue in Tyne and Wear.
Who is the target audience?
We are looking to hold an event for:
- Blind and partially sighted people seeking employment
- Blind and partially sighted people looking to change jobs and careers
- Employers
- Employment support organisations
- Local voluntary sector organisations with an interest in employment
What equipment and support will I need?
You will be a confident user of Microsoft, and have use of a PC, laptop or tablet device. We will provide you with your own Sight Loss Council email address, and you will have reliable internet connectivity.
Support available:
The Northeast Engagement Manager will oversee all aspects of the project and provide regular catch-up sessions with you, as well developing a plan that will contain milestones.
Expenses incurred will be re-imbursed, in accordance with our Volunteer Expense Policy.
You are not required to fundraise for the event, as budgets will be provided. The Regional Engagement Manager will support you to manage the budget for the event.
